The Sanskrit word for oil is SNEHANA which also means love

From my Ayurvedic studies and interest in plants I have been looking into the practise of herbal body oiling. I’ve been intrigued by this simple, yet powerful way of taking care of our own body.

What has become clear to me is how oleating the body is beneficial on multiple levels that move beyond nourishment of the skin. One of the key ones; oleating supports our nervous system (especially in times of stress or worry). Another one: it lubricates the joints and the minute channels in the body.

When the supportive properties of plants are transferred into the oil, our skin can absorb and carry these further into the body. There are many ways we can use herbal oils; for local application, in case of small injuries, or for a full body massage.

I’m happy to bring the oils, plants and this practise closer to you through a small selection of handcrafted herbal infused oils. This time I’ve used time-tested recipes that were taught to me by one of my teachers. The technique I’ve learned is focused on getting the maximum of the pure plant properties into the oil, to create a strong and potent herbal oil.

I’m keen on using organic, ethically sourced plants and oils, coming when possible from close by. Each oil is made out of just three components; plants, oil, and a trace amount of alcohol (used as an intermediary, and for preservation).
